Thin
2006 • HBO
Eating disorders affect five million people in the U.S., and more than ten percent of those diagnosed with anorexia nervosa will die from the disease. Thin documents some of the faces behind these numbers by going inside the Renfrew Center in Coconut Creek, Florida, a facility dedicated to helping women and girls overcome eating disorders.
“A well-structured, fiercely candid movie... a provocation” – Variety
“Their stories are eye-opening for anyone who believes an eating disorder is the result of ignorance, defiant behavior or both.” – Los Angeles Daily News
“To watch these women systematically destroy their bodies and their lives in search of an unattainable goal is like watching a train wreck. But Greenfield is so sympathetic with her subjects the you feel, at times, as if you are on that train with them.” - New York Daily News
