The 2025 Writers Guild Awards nominations have finally been revealed.

The original screenplay nominees are A Real Pain, Anora, Challengers, Civil War and My Old Ass. The adapted screenplay nominees are A Complete Unknown, Dune: Part Two, Hit Man, Nickel Boys and Wicked.

Top awards contenders The Brutalist, Conclave, Emilia Pérez, Sing Sing and The Substance were not eligible for the WGA Awards‘ adapted or original screenplay nominations.

On the TV side, Fallout, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Shogun and The Simpsons all lead with three nominations each, followed by two nominations apiece for The Bear, Bob’s Burgers, English Teacher and Hacks.

The guild was originally set to announce this year’s nominees on Thursday, Jan. 9, but the announcement was delayed twice amid the wildfires that have burned large areas of Los Angeles. The WGA originally set Monday as its new announcement date before again delaying the news “until further notice.” The nominees were finally announced on Wednesday.

The WGA is just the latest organization to delay an awards-season event, with the Producers Guild and Oscars both twice pushing back their nominations announcements amid the fires. Oscar nominations, originally set to be announced on Friday, Jan. 17 and then Sunday, Jan. 19, will now be revealed on Thursday, Jan. 23, with the Film Academy extending the nominations voting period until Sunday.

On Tuesday night, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards was also delayed from its rescheduled date of Jan. 26.

Numerous other awards season events have also been postponed, including gatherings and screenings of Oscar hopeful contenders.

Meanwhile, the Grammys announced Monday that it was sticking with its Feb. 2 awards show date. The Oscars is also sticking with its March 2 awards show date but canceled its Feb. 10 nominees luncheon, with money that it planned to spend on that event going to relief efforts.
