Elton John Talks Fame, Family and Coming Out: “I Was Being Honest”
Elton John opened up about fame and family on Saturday night after the world premiere of Elton John: Never Too Late at the Toronto Film Festival. “Fame is a dangerous thing if you don’t have something else, and that something else is honesty, and if you don’t have honesty to go with fame, then you’re going to be in real, real trouble, like I was before I got sober in 1990. It’s been 34 years now,” John said during a post-screening Q&A for the film directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish, his husband.

A documentary on the celebrated British singer Elton John will get its European premiere at the 68th BFI London Film Festival. Elton John: Never Too Late will air on Oct. 10 at London’s Royal Festival Hall, with the singer and doc directors R.J. Cutler and David Furnish, who is also John’s husband, set to be in attendance.
