Viola Davis, Selena Gomez, Billy Porter and Ava DuVernay will be among the subjects for the biographical show.

Apple will profile a new set of famous people with a second season of its biographical series Dear… .

The iPhone maker’s Apple TV+ has picked up the show for a 10-episode run, which is set to air later this year. R.J. Cutler, who's coming off Apple’s documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, returns as executive producer.

Dear… is based on Apple’s “Dear Apple” shorts and profiles celebrities and influential people via a series of letters written by people whose lives have been changed by their work. Subjects for the second season are award-winning actors Viola Davis, Jane Fonda, Billy Porter and Sandra Oh; actress, singer and producer Selena Gomez; filmmaker Ava DuVernay; former Vogue creative director Andre Leon Talley; renowned surfer Laird Hamilton; and NBA all-time leading scorer (and Hollywood Reporter columnist) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The first season of the show profiled Spike Lee, Oprah Winfrey, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Gloria Steinem, among others.

Cutler executive produces Dear… with Jane Cha, Todd Lubin, Jay Peterson and Donny Jackson. The show comes from Matador Content, a Boat Rocker company.

Dear… is part of a roster of unscripted series and documentaries at Apple TV+ that also includes Boys State, Home, Visible: Out on Television, Beastie Boys Story and Werner Herzog’s Fireball: Visitors From Darker Worlds.
